On Track Maintenance Operations Manager - Plumstead
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an On Track Maintenance Operations Manager at our Progress Rail depot in Plumstead. Progress Rail - Electro Motive Diesel is a subsidiary of Caterpillar, specialized in manufacturing, maintaining and overhauling diesel-electric locomotives across the world.
This role is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the rail grinding and milling machines operating out of Plumstead depot for maintenance activity on the Crossrail Elizabeth Line. Reporting to the Head of UK Contract Maintenance, you will be instrumental in leading the production manager and the maintenance team to deliver high-quality, timely and cost-effective full-service maintenance provision to EMD and our customer.

You will join a fast-paced environment and be well-practiced in efficiently delivering contractual requirements through your team members.
The role will include:
* Acting as the main point of contact for the customer, taking the lead role in progressing issues specific to the Plumstead facility and maintaining customer satisfaction
* Overall accountability for the quality standards of the repairs and maintenance carried out on the On Track Rail grinder / Milling trains to ensure that the reliability is maintained as high as possible and within contractual specifications.
* Producing contract performance reports for both internal and external review at customer meetings, identifying ways to improve efficiencies and operational performance
* Enforcing adherence to and increasing awareness of Health and safety procedures
* Developing and driving a high performing team through clear communication, skill development, a positive and inclusive work environment and high engagement levels
* Acting as a role model, leading by example
What we would love you to bring to the role:
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and organise a maintenance and operations team to deliver the required operational and contractual standards.
* Experience in managing On Track Machine operations on the railway and therefore be familiar with industry rules and regulations.
* Track record of managing, inspiring and developing a high-performing and cohesive team.
* Strong commercial acumen with excellent interpersonal skills and sound decision making, to ensure the client's requirements are prioritized and delivered.
* High level of professionalism & work ethics.
