Our client are specialists in their market sector, they are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

The Job you'll do

* Create conceptual design work in support of bearing tenders, and detail design work for contracts and new product development.

* Produce and manage models and engineering drawings within the company's computer aided design (CAD) systems.

* Perform bearing performance calculations using specific software.

* Perform structural strength of materials calculations to support bearing designs.

* Participate in design review meetings.

* Liaise with other departments, customers and suppliers in support of the above tasks.

* Prepare lists of parts that form the framework for a bill of materials.

* Generate and transfer the required departmental design documentation.

* Maintain component part records in the company database systems, as well as other documents required by business quality system processes.

* Create the most cost effective designs.

* Work in a safe manner and lead by example with regard to the company's health, safety and environmental policies.

About You

* To apply, you must be educated to HNC level or equivalent in mechanical engineering with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the strength of materials.

* We also ask that you have experience of designing castings, fabrications and precision machined, close-tolerance, turned and milled components.

* Familiarity of international standards or directives related to the design and testing of products for use in naval, nuclear and hazardous area applications would be beneficial.

* We're looking for someone who has excellent 3D CAD modelling and 2D technical drawing skills (preferably Creo or Pro/Engineer).

* An understanding of MathCAD, Windchill and Microsoft Office applications.

* This position will be on a full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours a week onsite.
