Job Purpose:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Reactors Programme at Dounreay for an Assistant Project Manager. This role supports the safe and efficient delivery of decommissioning and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager in driving forward multi-disciplinary work packages and ensuring all tasks are carried out in accordance with safety, quality, and project delivery expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
* Contribute to planning and implementing project strategies, adjusting plans when required to accommodate changes
* Produce and maintain project documentation including specifications, reports, safe systems of work, and modification reports for reactor-related projects
* Support the development of baseline programmes and maintain oversight of progress
* Monitor project and contractor performance, identifying issues across safety, cost, schedule, and quality, and recommending appropriate corrective actions
* Coordinate with internal departments and external contractors to promote safe and timely project execution
* Ensure all activities align with the safety case and regulatory requirements
* Prepare documentation for project handover and assist in transition to operational teams
* Participate in site emergency drills and support emergency preparedness
* Serve as line manager to allocated Dounreay staff, overseeing performance and development
* Liaise with work control centres to ensure resources are planned and available when needed

Requirements
* Experience working in nuclear, construction, or other highly regulated industrial environments
* Familiarity with contract management principles
* Background in trade, technical, construction, or engineering is beneficial
* Proven ability to independently manage or progress work packages or small-scale projects
* Strong documentation skills with experience producing technical reports and project documentation
* HND or equivalent qualification in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
