Quantity Surveyor

Role Description

An exciting position has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team at AJK Wood flooring Ltd located in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire.

AJK are seeking a QS with experience working in the Construction Industry

The role of the Quantity Surveyor is to assist in managing cost effectiveness from the initial handover from estimating to project completion/final account.

Quantity Surveyor - Roles and Responsibilities:

You will be Responsible for the day to day running of a multitude of flooring contracts commercially. These projects will range from relatively small contracts through to high value projects:

* Taking commercial ownership of a project from estimator handover

* Management of Subcontract Fitters, including the submittance of price work, checking/measuring works and signing off subcontract invoices

* Procurement and management of all materials required to source the project / works, including approval of material invoices /cost coding

* Preparation of a project cashflow forecast in line with construction programme

* Contract administration through preparation of monthly valuations, variations control, arranging for payment, contract administration and preparation and assessment of claims if required, Into the client.

* Cost reporting to the Directors (s) which will include preparing monthly reports, CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) for monthly MA'S to be carried out

Quantity Surveyor - Competency:

* Experience working in the construction industry (Ideally Flooring but not essential) for Tier 1 Contractors, and Private Clients

* 5 Years minimum experience as a Quantity Surveyor post qualification

* Logical & Orderly thinking

* Ability to lead and communicate in project meetings

* Able to lead, set up and manage site-based commercial and reporting systems.

* A 'Hands on' approach with ability to run own jobs.

* Ability to bring together the operational and commercial staff to work as a unit.

* A competent negotiator, skilled communicator.

* IT literate and experienced in working with MS Office and other applications and Cost Control Systems

* Experience with working / using standard forms of contract within the industry, i.e., JCT, NEC, Bespoke, Client framework.

Quantity Surveyor - Skills and Requirements:

* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent

* CSCS Card

Role Location: Bishop Stortford, Hertfordshire CM23 with commuting to sites

Salary/Package: Negotiable
