Business
Our client has a trading history spanning over 60 years. Part of a larger group of companies, this manufacturing business is a specialist and market leader in its field, supplying to a wide selection of household names. The business grew well in 2024, increasing its revenue by c. 80% and appointing several key members within the business to enable its future growth and operational optimisation.
They employing roughly 100 people, though you will sit within an existing team of 4 within finance - each person handling their respective ledger/duties.
Role
They are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant, someone with a strong track record of employment, ideally within an SME environment. You will own the accounts payable, including purchase ledger, expenses, credit card reconciliations and actioning payment runs. However, you'll ideally be able to support on several other duties, thus you must have a good understanding of accounting principles and be able to work independently, picking up new concepts and systems quickly.
Whilst the role may be able to offer some progression in time (i.e. if the business expands or acquires other businesses), it is not a primary attribute of this role. We need someone who is comfortable expanding their technical knowledge through exposure to different duties and tasks, but who is not seeing their career develop much beyond the duties outlined below. Longevity with this hire is key, so it's important to find someone who is comfortable with the duties outlined below.
Duties
Take full control of the purchase ledger, from start to finish:
- Processing and matching a small number of invoices per month
- Closing the ledger monthly
- Raise weekly and monthly payments
- Producing and reviewing aged creditor reports
- Dealing with any invoice queries
However, the Finance Director would like someone capable of supporting with:
- Updating Cashflow
- Bank reconciliations
- VAT returns
- Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Posting journals, Accruals & Prepayments
- Maintain fixed asset register
- Stock reconciliations
- Assisting with payroll
- Maintain delivery notes
