Our client, a leading design and build contractor to the water sector, is currently seeking a Lead Estimator.

Location: Falmer (with hybrid working available)

As a Lead Estimator, you will report directly to the Pre-Construction Lead and play a crucial role in reviewing Project Content Documents (PCD) and the proposed scope of works. Your responsibilities will involve preparing innovative solutions and Bottom-up-estimates for schemes, along with a Top-Down review from cost curves and Schedules of rates, assisting in the negotiation of the proposed Target Price.

Responsibilities:

Lead the estimating function across multiple water projects, managing a multi-discipline estimating team (civil, mechanical, and electrical estimating).

Interface with the framework design, engineering, and delivery teams to provide estimating support for projects and tenders.

*

Work closely with the head of estimating to manage estimating resources across the division.

*

Take responsibility for the preparation of estimates in bids and projects.

*

Develop estimates at all stages of the project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept to detailed design stages.

*

Lead the development of estimating strategies and present them to internal and external senior stakeholders.

*

Be responsible for the preparation of either civils, electrical, or mechanical estimates for each project.

*

Conduct technical and commercial appraisals of material and subcontractor quotations to ensure full scope coverage.

*

Attend site visits during the tender period.

About You:

Essential:

*

Preferably Chartered.

*

Significant experience working as an Estimator for a major civils contractor in the water sector.

*

Experienced in pricing medium-to-large-value civil engineering projects.

*

Familiarity with the Civil Engineering Method of Measurement.

*

Customer-focused, open and honest, safety and environmentally aware.

*

Excellent communication skills and a great team player.

Desirable:

*

Knowledge of CCS 'Candy' Estimating System (training will be provided if needed).

*

Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in a Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical/ICA Engineering-related discipline.
