About the Role: We are currently recruiting for a dynamic SEN Teacher on behalf of a highly regarded special school in Hillingdon. The school provides tailored education to children and young people with Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), offering a supportive and inclusive environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to contribute to the development of students with complex needs and to make a meaningful impact in their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver adapted lessons to meet the diverse needs of students with autism and severe learning difficulties.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Create a positive, sensory-rich classroom environment that encourages students’ social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Utilise specialised teaching techniques such as visual aids, PECS, and sensory-based learning strategies.
  • Monitor and track student progress, ensuring regular communication with parents and carers.
  • Manage classroom behaviour using positive reinforcement methods.
  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver a holistic approach to education and wellbeing.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with children with autism and/or severe learning difficulties.
  • A genuine passion for working in special education and a dedication to supporting student development.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton) is an advantage but not essential.
