Senior Electrical Cable Engineer

What you'll be doing:
• You will be the technical expert on forensic projects relating to Electrical Power Cable Systems, determining the root cause of failures and making practical recommendations to the customer to reduce the risk of future failures
• You'll be responsible for dealing with the initial customer contact through to delivery and reporting. This role combines office-based projects with hands-on practical laboratory delivery and customer focused activities.

What you'll need:
You'll have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of cable systems including:
• The design and construction of power cables, joints and terminations
• The electrical field distributions in cables, joints and terminations and methods used to control electrical field distributions
• Common failure mode related to cables, joints and terminations.
• Partial discharge and its significance in the ageing and failure of cable systems.
