Leader Education are recruiting a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to work as a 1:1Tutor for a Pupil Referral Unit in Sunderland. This provision caters for children aged 14 to 16 years old who suffer with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health. This position involves the planning and delivery of lessons to students in their homes, ensuring they can access the curriculum regardless of their circumstances.

The ideal candidate will have a HLTA qualification or equivalent as well as experience working in a group or 1-1 basis with students who have difficulties with their learning and/or exhibit challenging behaviour.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30am till 4:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.

The successful candidate will have:

• A fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
• A full UK Drivers License and access to own vehicle
• Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
• Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
• Experience working in a group or 1-1 basis with students struggling with their learning
• A HLTA qualification or equivalent
