Assistant Accountant

As a Part Qualified Assistant Accountant, you’ll play a crucial role in our finance team. You’ll support the Financial Controller and contribute to financial reporting and help ensure accurate financial records.

This is a hands-on role that will give plenty of autonomy after initial training and the opportunity to progress in a successful and profitable business.

The role will offer the opportunity to work from home 1 day a week after initial training.

Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of subcontract ledger - Working with commercial teams to ensure prompt accurate payments to our subcontract supply chain.
  • Working with the Group Purchase ledger team to ensure supplier payment practices are in line with prompt payment code.
  • Processing and auditing expenses, ensuring all expenses are in line with the company policy.
  • Raising sales invoices and owning the credit control process, ensuring invoices are paid on time.
  • Resolve finance queries quickly for both our internal and external stakeholders.
  • Processing Intercompany transactions.
  • Monthly BIKS return to payroll.
  • Assist with cashflow forecast.
  • Assist with VAT return.
  • Assist with month end closedown.
  • Assist with non-financial managers with cost management & forecasting against budgets.
  • Provide support to the financial controller.

Essential Skills and experience

  • AAT Qualified and ACCA/CIMA Part Qualified or equivalent
  • Proven work experience as a Finance Assistant, or similar role in the UK with experience of purchase and sales ledger processing
  • Experience in construction industry and awareness of CIS Tax is desirable
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors.
  • Be able to take ownership of their roles and responsibilities.
