Assistant Accountant

As a Part Qualified Assistant Accountant, you’ll play a crucial role in our finance team. You’ll support the Financial Controller and contribute to financial reporting and help ensure accurate financial records.
This is a hands-on role that will give plenty of autonomy after initial training and the opportunity to progress in a successful and profitable business.
The role will offer the opportunity to work from home 1 day a week after initial training.
Responsibilities:
- Ownership of subcontract ledger - Working with commercial teams to ensure prompt accurate payments to our subcontract supply chain.
- Working with the Group Purchase ledger team to ensure supplier payment practices are in line with prompt payment code.
- Processing and auditing expenses, ensuring all expenses are in line with the company policy.
- Raising sales invoices and owning the credit control process, ensuring invoices are paid on time.
- Resolve finance queries quickly for both our internal and external stakeholders.
- Processing Intercompany transactions.
- Monthly BIKS return to payroll.
- Assist with cashflow forecast.
- Assist with VAT return.
- Assist with month end closedown.
- Assist with non-financial managers with cost management & forecasting against budgets.
- Provide support to the financial controller.
Essential Skills and experience
- AAT Qualified and ACCA/CIMA Part Qualified or equivalent
- Proven work experience as a Finance Assistant, or similar role in the UK with experience of purchase and sales ledger processing
- Experience in construction industry and awareness of CIS Tax is desirable
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors.
- Be able to take ownership of their roles and responsibilities.
