Job Title -Statutory Accountant

Contract - Inside IR35

Location - Leeds, West Yorkshire (5 days onsite per week)

Duration - 4 months initially

Qualification - ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or CIMA

Looking for a Statutory Accountant with strong experience in Statutory Accounting ensuring the timely production, sign-off and submission of statutory accounts globally.

Job Purpose - Overview

Describe the main purpose of the job and its role within my client (regional, global, etc.).

The Statutory Accountant is responsible for supporting the Manager, Statutory Accounting in ensuring the timely production, sign-off and submission of statutory accounts globally. This will include taking ownership for the preparation / production of statutory accounts in specific European entities.

Key Responsibilities

The Statutory Accountant will be responsible for:


· Taking ownership for the preparation / production of statutory accounts for a number of European entities.


· Ensuring timely submission of information to support statutory accounts production and supporting with managing issues in relation to this.


· Consistently and proactively responds to ad hoc queries and prioritises work e?ectively to ensure that these are responded to on a timely basis


· Working collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders (e.g. IT, Tax Team, Co Sec, External Audit).


· Liaising with internal resources and external service providers including external auditors


· Consistently working towards agreed roles, goals, timescales and ensuring that work is carried out to expected standards


· Identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls around statutory accounts and support implementation as appropriate


· Demonstrating awareness of good practice Statutory Accounting concepts, technology and methodologies and ensuring these are implemented


· Working as part of a team to understand root causes and represent process procedures, practicalities and exceptions


· Obtaining and sharing feedback from stakeholders within the team and offering solutions to address where required

Core Accountabilities/Measures of Success

Provide 4-6 key measures of success. These are the key outputs of the role/end results required for the business unit.


· Statutory accounts are completed accurately and submitted in accordance with deadlines and managing issues in relation to this


· Successful end-to-end project plan to support the timely production, sign-off and submission of statutory accounts


· Efficient, effective and repeatable process developed to deliver statutory accounts

Qualifications, Skills, Experience Required

Precise description of job functional knowledge (technical/subject-matter/professional expertise), business knowledge, problem-solving and interpersonal skills and experience required for the satisfactory performance of the job e.g. type, breadth and depth of experience, specific skills, qualification requirement, etc.


· Qualified e.g. ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or CIMA


· Statutory Accounts experience required (ideally international accounts experience).


· Works collaboratively within a team and has dealt with change


· Demonstrable ability to identify and grasp the broader issues and provide guidance


· Consistently demonstrates collaborative working


· Requires good understanding of IT systems and processes - SAP knowledge is a plus


· Shows some influence on a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders across a range of operational issues


· Can demonstrate development of good negotiation skills


· Consistently good written and verbal communication skills especially stakeholder management


· Creates effective relationships through interpersonal skills consistently


· Consistently excellent attention to detail


· Consistent ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities and operational demands.


· Requests feedback to support self-development and acts on this consistently


· Understands the ability of technology to drive efficiency's and enhance service delivery.
