Cover Supervisor required:

Qualiteach are working closely with a dedicated and inclusive special school, who are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team. This school specialises in supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a structured and therapeutic learning environment to help students develop resilience, confidence, and academic skills.

Key Responsibilities

* Supervise and deliver pre-planned lessons across various subjects in the absence of the class teacher.

* Support students with SEMH needs, adapting resources and strategies to manage emotional and behavioural challenges effectively.

* Implement and follow behaviour support plans, using de-escalation techniques to promote positive behaviour.

* Build strong and trusting relationships with students to foster engagement and motivation in learning.

* Provide feedback on student progress, emotional well-being, and engagement to teaching staff.

* Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and pastoral support staff to maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment.

* Be a team-player, occasionally pitching in with additional duties such as break and lunchtime supervision as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally in an educational or care setting.

* Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to apply de-escalation strategies.

* An understanding of trauma-informed practice and strategies to support emotional regulation.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* A patient, resilient, and flexible approach to working in an SEMH-focused school environment.

Desirable:

* Experience in a special school, PRU, or alternative provision setting.

* A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEMH support.
