Head Housekeeper

36 Hours Per Week, Flexible Shifts

 

Our client, a well-regarded care home, is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Housekeeper to lead their housekeeping team. This is a full-time role, working 36 hours per week on a 2-week rolling rota, which includes alternate weekends. With flexible shifts between 8 am and 5 pm, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong housekeeping background to make a real difference in creating a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.

 

As the Head Housekeeper, you will oversee all housekeeping activities within the home, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are consistently met. You’ll lead, train, and motivate a dedicated team while ensuring cleaning schedules and procedures are followed. Your expertise will also be crucial in maintaining equipment, monitoring stock, and working alongside the maintenance team to resolve any issues promptly.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Prior management experience in housekeeping, ideally within a care or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), and infection control protocols.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining superior cleaning standards.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the home, ensuring all areas meet health and safety regulations.
  • Supervise, train, and inspire the housekeeping team to deliver exceptional service.
  • Ensure all cleaning schedules and procedures are followed accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor housekeeping equipment and stock levels, reporting any issues or shortages.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to address damages or necessary repairs.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess cleaning standards and staff performance.
  • Hold staff meetings and ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
