Mechanical Manager / Construction Manager
Location: Newport, Wales
Duration: Initial 10-month phase (with strong potential for extension)

Start Date: Immediate (Pre-construction phase - Home-based or from Hemel Hempstead HQ)

We're moving full steam ahead on an exciting new-build data centre project in Newport and are now seeking a hands-on Construction Manager to lead from the front. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business and play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of a high-profile project for a new client—one that could open major future opportunities.

While we're not looking for a traditional Project Manager, we do need someone experienced and reliable who can take ownership on-site and manage our specialist mechanical package confidently.

About the role
You'll be the site-based lead, overseeing the full supply and installation of mechanical pipework services, including Process Water, LTHW, CHW, Domestics, and Drainage. Managing a team of 10 fitters and plumbers (alongside a non-working supervisor), you'll keep the project running smoothly day-to-day while keeping directors informed.

Ideal Candidate Profile
• Background in Plumbing or Pipe Fitting, progressed into management.
• Strong on-site leadership and communication skills.
• Solid understanding of mechanical installations and sequencing.
• Comfortable with basic IT systems - Word, Excel, Autodesk navigation, and client platforms.
• SSMTS & First Aid certification required.
• Able to attend and contribute to progress and H&S meetings.
• Good at planning, material procurement, and implementing QA procedures.
• Approachable and capable of liaising with both mechanical and principal contractors.

Working hours
Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm
(Flexibility for travel considered, with appropriate site cover shared with supervisor.)
