Arthur Financial have partnered with a global insurance and reinsurance business based in London to support with their search for an Assistant Group Financial Controller to support them for 6-months. The successful candidate will be required to support the Group Finance team during the year-end reporting period, coinciding with significant acquisition activity. The focus will be on delivering accurate and timely consolidated financial information, facilitating financial integration, aligning processes for acquired businesses, managing acquisition accounting, and ensuring a strong control environment.Key Responsibilities:
  • Review the existing consolidation model to identify and address information gaps, implementing more efficient processes.
  • Prepare mappings from SUN ledger to statutory financial statements and internal management reports.
  • Analyse the chart of accounts for opportunities to improve its structure and rationalise the number of accounts.
  • Implement change management controls for the chart of accounts.
  • Assist with the management of the external audit process.
  • Lead the production of statutory financial statements for the UK and Jersey, and coordinate the approval process with the Company Secretary.
  • Assist in the preparation of lender covenant compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate with divisional CFOs and Financial Controllers to produce consolidated financial information.
  • Work with international offices to identify and account for GAAP differences in the consolidation model.
  • Review the process of converting overseas entity balances to the Group functional currency to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Implement a balance sheet substantiation control framework, ensuring the preparation and review of account-level reconciliations.
  • Take ownership of consolidation postings and group account reconciliations (intercompany investment eliminations, shareholders' equity).
  • Assist in the financial integration and process alignment of acquired businesses.
Skills & Capabilities:
  • Confident and effective use of accounting and consolidation systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP, particularly acquisition accounting.
