We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to join a well-regarded Residential Children's Home in Telford. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified care professional looking to step into a leadership role or prepare for future registration as a Children's Home Manager.

This home supports children and young people who have experienced early life trauma, neglect, or abuse and who may display challenging behaviours. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership, emotional support, and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and support the care team to deliver person-centred, therapeutic care

*

Ensure risks are managed appropriately and in line with organisational policies

*

Work closely with the Registered Manager to oversee day-to-day operations

*

Step into the role of Manager in their absence

*

Complete staff supervision and promote a positive, supportive team culture

*

Attend and chair staff meetings and represent the service at external meetings

*

Support young people using de-escalation tools and positive behaviour strategies (e.g., PRICE)

*

Contribute to the development of care plans and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date

*

Act as a role model and advocate for the young people, supporting their emotional and behavioural development

*

Participate in the on-call rota as required

Requirements:

*

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - essential

*

Willingness to work towards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Children's Residential Care

*

Prior experience working in children's residential services (leadership experience desirable)

*

Sound knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards

*

Excellent communication and people management skills

*

Strong, calm, and empathetic approach to supporting children with complex needs

*

Full UK manual driving licence - essential

*

Flexibility to work unsociable shifts including weekends and sleep-ins
