Main Purpose of the Job:
To collaborate closely with teams across a well-established, industry-leading organization to manage technical project delivery. The role requires delivering a range of IT projects aimed at enhancing the organisation's technical infrastructure. The Project Manager will need to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously and provide clear, timely updates on project progress.
Reports To: Project Delivery Manager
Budgetary Responsibilities: No direct departmental budget management, though the Project Manager will oversee project budgets on behalf of the project sponsor.
Direct Reports: None, though the Project Manager will manage day-to-day activities for resources across IT and third-party providers for project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will oversee projects approved by the business case review board, including:
Project Delivery
- Creating Project Initiation/Feasibility Documents to confirm project scope.
- Developing and maintaining project plans and documentation through all lifecycle stages.
- Facilitating risk workshops and managing risks throughout the project.
- Overseeing project financial tracking and purchasing.
- Handling project scope changes and producing documented change control impact assessments.
- Reporting project status to the steering group.
- Organizing and leading steering group meetings with the project sponsor.
- Planning, organising, and implementing technical changes.
- Preparing transition documentation to hand projects over to the IT service team (BAU).
- Requesting and coordinating project resources and team members to fulfill tasks and activities.
Support to Technical Team
- Coaching team members on project practices and processes to ensure full understanding.
- Facilitating conflict resolution and decision-making within the team.
- Encouraging self-organization and cross-functionality among team members.
- Balancing technical quality goals with project scope objectives.
- Assisting the team in identifying and resolving obstacles.
- Providing feedback and supporting continuous improvement.
- Removing blockers to enable the team's progress.
Experience
- Essential: Previous experience in project delivery.
- Desirable: Experience managing third-party vendors to meet project deliverables.
Qualifications
- Essential: Experience managing projects that involve changes to existing infrastructure or implementing new systems.
- Desirable: Familiarity with industry-standard software and project methodologies (e.g., Agile, Prince2, DSDM, Jira, Confluence).
Training
- Desirable: PRINCE2 Foundation and APM Foundation.
Specialist Skills/Abilities/Knowledge (All Essential)
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and processes.
- Proficiency in producing accurate and high-quality project documentation.
- Ability to manage stakeholders and conduct effective meetings.
- Skilled in managing risks and utilizing RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).
- Working knowledge of networking, infrastructure, IT security, applications, databases, and data centers, including system interfaces.
