Job Title: Head of Risk, Ops & Compliance

Location: London - Hybrid working

My client is a established Fintech lender with expertise within supporting SME businesses with working capital. After successfully growing their own lending book over the last 10 yrs and continuing to do so… They are scaling a second business line providing white labelled solution for Banks, Lenders & Sas Companies to offer working capital facilities to their customers.

Scaling their embedded finance channel has brought brilliant opportunity, mass interest in market ( already running with 2 UK banks & large accountancy platform) and chance to scale internationally.

The CEO is now looking for a key member of the SLT team - You will over see Risk, Ops & Compliance with a growing team reporting into you. This role is key part of the companies success meaning we are looking for a driven, ambitious candidate who is keen to lead from top but also be involved in day to day - 'scale up culture’

As the Head of Risk, Ops & Compliance your responsibilities and duties will include:

• Working closely with the risk committee you will take part in building the roadmap on how the lending platform will evolve, managing the user experience, ensuring the commercials are healthy and offer counsel on 'fine-tuning' the processes. You will take an active role in the development the lending platform and any modification as well as a fundamental understanding of the potential for fraud and default.
• Oversee the risk decision making process and deal flows, acting as first point of escalation on larger deal proposals.
• Regularly audit the loan portfolio for performance, quality, risk, and exceptions, and provide policy and procedure recommendations based on findings.
• Portfolio risk management and performance.
• Develop, implement, and execute the risk strategy in collaboration with the Risk Committee.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations whilst taking a commercial and practical

• Create and monitor the execution of compliance strategies that will ensure all our processes are in line with applicable laws and industry regulations.

• Maintain internal company procedures to ensure that our staff is kept up to date regarding any modifications to existing compliance laws and policies.
• Revise and/or formulate policies and promote their implementation.
• Develop, maintain, and update the risk governance framework and ensure compliance against the framework.

• Evaluate overall business performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and metrics.
• Developing, improving, and implementing operations plans to meet company goals.
• Own and drive the process of embedding the operational risk framework throughout the business areas and organize and facilitate workshops for process mapping of key business processes, the identification and assessment of inherent business risks and controls.

Essential Skills and Competencies of the Head of Risk, Ops & Compliance is:

• Previously held a Head of Risk role within IF, Alternative Lending or working capital
• Knowledge and proven success in managing a lending book on behalf of a regulated organisation
• Real 'leadership’ skills - can set direction & execute plan across the business
• Understanding of Compliance - Happily sit with regulator & external parties to represent the business
• Proactive / Operational mindset - Prior experience in scaling a business
• Understanding of Industry rules and regulations
