Nursery Deputy Manager

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing the daily operations of our nursery. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework and the nursery’s philosophy, providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and leading the team effectively.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Assist in implementing the EYFS statutory framework and maintaining high standards within the nursery.
  • Keep abreast of changes within the Early Years Sector to ensure the nursery delivers a high-quality curriculum.
  • Plan and implement activities based on children’s interests and developmental needs, monitoring progress and identifying support requirements.
  • Lead good practice with regards to additional needs and inclusion, acting as SENCO when necessary.
  • Conduct cohort tracking and review to respond to any areas requiring further support.
  • Develop professional relationships with parents and collaborate with external agencies to support children’s individual needs.
  • Ensure every child has a key person supporting their individual needs and maintain high-quality interactions with children.
  • Share responsibility for health and safety, maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the nursery.
  • In the Manager’s absence, undertake the overall day-to-day management of the nursery.
  • Support the development of the nursery by actively seeking improvement opportunities and documenting findings and actions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualification in childcare and education.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Early Years Setting.
  • Experience leading and supporting a team.
  • Current safeguarding training.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS Framework and child development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding procedures and health and safety policies.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team with excellent communication skills.
  • IT skills and the ability to use own initiative.
  • Kind and caring nature with a positive and self-motivated attitude.
  • DBS check (required).

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Early Years Childcare and Education.
  • Experience working with children with SEND.
  • Management qualification.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
