We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our team, focusing on connected foster care arrangements. This role involves assessing family members or friends as potential foster carers for children in our care, ensuring they are suitable and providing ongoing support. The role is pivotal in sharing parental responsibility with the child’s parents and differs from family-only arrangements.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of potential connected foster carers to ensure they meet the necessary standards and can provide a safe, nurturing environment for the child.
  • Work closely with children in care and connected carers to facilitate stable and supportive placements.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to connected foster carers, helping them to understand and meet the child’s needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for the child, including health professionals, educators, and legal representatives.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Participate in regular training and professional development to stay updated with best practices in social work and connected care.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A recognised qualification in social work and registration with the relevant social work body.
  • Experience in child protection and foster care assessments.
  • Strong understanding of the legal framework surrounding foster care and child protection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
