Kitchen Assistant - Hourly Rate: £12.19 PAYE

We are seeking 3 Kitchen Assistants to join our team, providing essential support over lunchtime for approximately 2-3 hours a day. The roles are based in Leicester and require flexibility as the service is needed across multiple schools.
Day to Day of the role: - Assist with the preparation, cooking, and serving of school meals, adhering to nutritional guidelines, standard recipes, pre-defined menus, and quality requirements.
- Prepare and clean dining areas before and after service.
- Set up serving and dining areas in line with the menu and other pre-defined details.
- Serve food while interacting positively with children and school staff.
- Pack food prepared for distribution to other schools (for production hub kitchens only).
- Perform routine cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment during and after each service.
- Dispose of waste responsibly.
- Act as a positive representative of the service, being approachable, friendly, and helpful.
- Promote the uptake of school meals and participation with new menus and ideas by engaging with children daily.
- Report equipment breakdowns, structural repairs needs, and any food safety hazards.
- Receive, check, and store deliveries accurately.
- Record food safety and health & safety information diligently.
- Participate in regular deep cleaning of kitchen equipment and areas.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Ability to perform simple kitchen tasks efficiently.
- Good communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Ability to work flexibly and provide cover at other locations as needed.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety.
- Ability to work well within a team and under the direction of the School Chef/Assistant School Chef.
