Company: NXTGEN RECRUITMENT

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: £26000 - £30000/annum

NXTGEN are delighted to be working with a leading Accountancy practice based in Norwich to recruit an Audit & Accounts Assistant for their high-performing, growing team. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with experience in either Accounts, Audit, or both, who's looking to progress quickly within a varied role. This position is ideal for those in a pure Audit role seeking more exposure to Accounts, or those in Accounts looking to broaden their skillset with Audit responsibilities.

As an Audit & Accounts Assistant, you'll be an essential part of the team, working on a diverse portfolio of clients across both Accounts and Audit. You'll be involved in preparing year-end accounts, completing tax and VAT returns, performing audit tests, and supporting both statutory and non-statutory audits, as well as due diligence work. This role also offers one-on-one mentoring from Managers, a personalised development plan, and the opportunity to assist junior team members, all aimed at helping you advance your career quickly.

What sets this role apart from the typical Audit position is that it's predominantly office-based, with minimal travel required. When client visits are needed, they'll be local, allowing for a better work-life balance.

Key responsibilities:

Assist with the preparation of annual accounts for a variety of clients
Support the preparation of tax and VAT returns
Perform audit tests, statutory or non-statutory audits, and due diligence work for a range of clients
Build strong working relationships with clients
Assist junior team members by answering queries, reviewing work where needed, and supporting complex tasks
Provide timely support to clients with ad hoc queries

The ideal candidate will be studying towards their AAT or hold their qualification and eager to progress onto ACCA/ ACCA with prior experience working in practice. Strong communication skills and keen attention to detail are essential, along with proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft packages.
