The company:

A market leading infrastructure site who employ a dynamic team of circa 150x staff.

The project:

The Lead Construction Logistics Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a site wide logistics strategy for a potential capital investment of circa £2.8 billion over the next decade. Once implemented, the role holder will be responsible for leadership and management of construction logistics to support a multitude of projects that will potentially peak at over £500m per annum in value.

The role:

Reporting into key stakeholders your role will involve but not be limited to:

* Lead the development, implementation of and ongoing management of the Construction Logistics Strategy to enable safe, efficient, effective and timely delivery of centralised Construction Logistics across the diverse portfolio of projects whilst minimising impact to the site - profiling the current and future demand to best inform the Construction Logistics Strategy to meet the requirements of a large and diverse portfolio of projects delivered by multiple contractors. Moving from a Contractor-led model to a Client-led model, key considerations will include consolidation/optimisation of labour, plant and material distribution, material storage, compounds, site setup, logistics routes (both internal and external), road network impact and modelling, and aviation security requirements whilst minimising the environmental impact of construction activities and transportation and adhering to current and future regulatory requirements.

* Lead the market-engagement, tendering, evaluation and selection of a 3rd party Construction Logistics Partner to deliver the required elements of the strategy.

* Lead the onboarding process for the 3rd party Construction Logistics Partner, ensuring seamless transition from Contractor-led to Client-led model with no impact to live or developing projects, and seamless integration with key stakeholders such as Security, the Contractor Support Centre, and Framework Contractors.

* Lead the ongoing delivery of logistics services by the Construction Logistics Provider, in particular:

Conduct portfolio-wide and individual project evaluation to ensure the Construction Logistics Partner has optimised delivery capability to ensure safe, efficient, effective and timely delivery of project logistics.

Collaborate with programme and project teams to ensure effective planning and delivery of construction logistics.

Measure and report on the performance of the 3rd party logistics partner and contractors in planning and delivering construction logistics.

Review and validate resource and cost estimates provided for delivering logistics support to projects to ensure value for money.

Review contractor logistics submittals, including construction phase plans, logistics plans, traffic management plans and emergency plans, ensuring compliance with accepted plans and the site construction logistics strategy.

Produce and issue appropriate and accurate site wide communications for projects that have an operational impact.

Develop and implement continuous improvements for project delivery processes and procedures as they evolve.

Implement measures to mitigate risks associated with logistics, including vehicle accidents, equipment handling, and pollution control, ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to.

Drive the adoption of new logistics technologies and techniques, including advanced software and hardware solutions, to improve logistical efficiency and reduce environmental impact across projects.

* Lead, manage, and support logistics resources assigned to the role, developing and mentoring team members, maintaining standards, and driving performance.

* Support the Project Teams by providing critical advice in the development of the logistics strategy for individual projects.

* Identify and apply relevant lessons learnt back into the Construction Logistics Strategy with a continuous improvement mindset to ensure that the organisation mitigates its exposure to repeated negative events.

About you:

* Qualified to Degree level or equivalent qualification in construction management, engineering, or a logistics-related discipline. Accredited Construction Logistics Planning Practitioner highly desirable.

* Substantial experience as a senior construction logistics manager or equivalent on complex multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects/portfolios or multi-year programmes of engineering works with a value typically in excess of £100m per annum. Aviation experience is highly desirable.

* Experience in developing, implementing, and managing logistics strategies across multiple projects and contractors.

* Experience managing logistics in live operational environments, including coordinating multiple stakeholders and negotiating access windows.

* Experience of managing 3rd-party logistics providers on complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

* Extensive knowledge of the UK Construction Supply Chain, and in particular logistics providers.

* Extensive demonstrable technical knowledge of Construction Logistics best practice with the intellectual capability to tackle complex logistics challenges and drive performance improvements.

* Strong understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental issues in the Construction industry.

* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, facilitate and create opportunities for learning for others.

* Proficiency in key logistics and inventory management software alongside Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
