Job Title - Senior Engineer - Structures (CAT B Seats)
Contract - 5 months (Inside IR35)
Working requirements - 2/3 days onsite per week - SCOTSTOUN

Role purpose
• For Type 26 we have a team of engineers who are testing CAT B seats. There was 2800 seats to be designed in a team of 20. Maybe not as many for Canada.
• Canada project took the principles of Type 26 but created a new seat
• Team of Stage 1 engineers and stage 2 detail designers - they work very closely together which has an impact, notification that a new seat needs to be created
• CAT B seat engineers - do the stress analysis, needs to test whether stress can take the load off the seat
• 4 years engineering qualification experience
• Stress and hand calculations is imperative to this position (makes up 70%)

Core Duties
• Part of a team of 9 engineers doing the analysis - some complex analysis with finite element but mostly standard calculations
• Ensuring the seats are compliant with requirements and testing
• Taking the model from the detail design team and and doing analysis on the model
• Calculations and analysis - sufficient strength, go back to the detail design to increase the structures
• Revisiting the calculations once changes have been made
• Not much customer interfacing required - the customer may dip check and have some queries but would not be a great deal
• FORAN experience - we wouldn't require full FORAN experience but the engineers will view the model and lift of the dimensions
• MATHCAD
• Check all the calculations and make sure they are good to go - report into the principal engineer.
• Interfacing with detail design who are producing the modelling of the seats

Knowledge & skills
• General engineering knowledge
• Ship experience (would be a desirable)
• Structural analysis
Essential skills
• Stress calculation (70%)
Desirable
• Mathcad
• FORAN experience
• Any familiarity with Classification Lloyds - any classification experience can be transferred

Qualifications:
• Any relevant Engineering Degree. Potentially not civil engineering
• Ideally would be a naval architect but not essential would like degree qualification, mechanical engineers, aeronautical, product design as its focused on the equipment
