Ocean Export Manager

Reed are seeking a proactive and operational-minded Ocean Export Manager with a strong background in ocean exports operations, team leadership, and commercial understanding. This role is crucial for driving continuous improvement and efficiency within our ever-growing Ocean Export department.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Collaborate closely with the Ocean Freight Manager to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Maintain and build client relationships to secure new and ongoing business.
  • Ensure effective communication within the team and conduct regular monthly meetings.
  • Enhance procurement and supplier management strategies.
  • Implement and evolve SOPs, KPIs, and other departmental changes as needed.
  • Manage team workload, performance, and welfare, addressing any queries or issues.
  • Conduct team appraisals and performance/development reviews.
  • Provide training to enhance both service delivery and personal development of team members.
  • Keep the team updated with new regulations, industry updates, and company protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with AEO, ISO, and customs regulations.
  • Drive the Export team to operate cohesively from quote to final delivery.
  • Ensure first-class customer service is delivered to Customers/Partners.
  • Resolve any team and/or client issues effectively.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven team management experience.
  • Strong operational experience in Export Ocean Freight.
  • Demonstrated ability to create operational efficiencies.
  • Knowledge of CDS, arranging Letters of Credit, and Certificates of Origins.
  • Familiarity with shipping line booking processes and websites.
  • Understanding of Inco Terms.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and good decision-making capabilities.
  • Experience in compliance, auditing, SOP development, and implementation.
