The Avenue Special School is looking for creative, motivational, and inspiring professionals. Our vibrant and friendly school community supports more than 250 pupils, aged between 3-19, with a range of severe or profound learning difficulties, some physical disabilities and autism. We have small well-resourced classes and a real passion for supporting young people to have active and healthy lives through an exciting education both in and out of the classroom.
Working at The Avenue provides you with the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people with special educational needs. It also allows you to progress in your career, taking on responsibilities and developing your passions and interests.
The Avenue cares deeply about CPD and balancing workloads to allow staff to flourish, so we offer a full programme of training and mentoring, staff wellbeing days, and the chance to work in a supportive and encouraging team environment where your voice really does matter.
Our ambitious school is rapidly expanding, and we need dynamic and committed professionals to join our excellent team. Successful candidates will be strong team-players, compassionate, and dynamic creative thinkers. If you’re excited about the skills you can bring to one of our classrooms, we would love to hear from you!
We are looking for a School2Home teacher who can offer an individual and flexible programme of education to our students who are too vulnerable to attend the school site. You will be responsible for planning, resourcing and teaching, a high-quality, differentiated curriculum in a pupil’s home, ensuring that the needs of the pupils are taken into account. You will be responsible for using an appropriate range of observation, monitoring and recording assessment strategies as a basis for setting individualised learning objectives.
We are looking for experienced SEND teachers. You will need to be able to demonstrate proven effective teaching and learning styles for PMLD students, have knowledge of AAC, therapeutical integration and cross-curricular learning.
This is a newly created role so ideally, we are looking for someone who has PMLD experience. The ability to work independently, using one’s own initiative is essential and well as the ability to be flexible in terms of hours worked and duties. Whilst this is a School2Home role, there may be times when the successful candidate needs to be based on our school site, teaching in class depending on teaching requirements.
To apply, please visit the vacancy page of our website and fill in the forms you’ll find in the Teacher recruitment section.
Closing date 9 am, Monday 3 February 2025.
Interviews will take place week commencing 10 February 2025.
