Quality / NPI Engineer

Cooper Lomaz are currently working exclusively with a growing organisation based in Mildenhall who are recruiting a brand-new role as a NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer / Manager. This is a great opportunity to be the lead on all new product introduction projects, from the initial customer enquiry, through to full production readiness.

Within this new position you will manage a small team and run multiple projects simultaneously often to tight deadlines. The appointed candidate will have commercial experience in a manufacturing / fabrication business with the ability to read / understand technical drawings and deal with customers and projects directly. This is a varied project based role where you will have a key influence to processes, improvement and the client processes.

Main Duties

Provide product & tooling costs based on customer enquiries to facilitate customer quotations often to very tight deadlines.
Manage the NPI team to ensure departmental activities are conducted in an efficient and methodical manner.
Review technical draws provided by customers and work with the team to produce manufacturing solutions.
Consult with our external designers where necessary to obtain fixture designs, to enable fixture manufacture.
Assume overall responsibility for ISIR & PPAP requirements, documentation & submissions.
Work with the operations director to ensure that new products are designed using methods that allow efficient manufacturing once in full production.
Work with the operations director and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of business. This includes identifying optimization opportunities and refining processes.
Hold a weekly NPI meeting to update all key stakeholders on the status of all projects.
Regularly update the board on the progress of NPI projects and communicate any deadline risks ahead of time to allow recovery actions to be taken where needed.Experience

Experience of working within NPI in a manufacturing/fabrications business.
Experience of managing and motivating a small team
Knowledge and experience of ISIR & PPAP processes
Ability to discuss technical issues with a professional manner in a commercial setting
Ability to read technical drawings
Costing and estimating experience
Computer Literate
Project management experience (desirable)
