KEY SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Demonstrable experience working as a Software Engineer in a commercial environment.
• We welcome applications from those with 2-3+ years’ experience, up to senior / lead / architect level.
• Candidates able to bring a specialism in front OR back -end development are encouraged to get in touch - as long as you are happy to work across the full-stack when required!
• Expertise in some (but not necessarily all) of the following - Python, TypeScript, React, Data Stores (e.g. relational databases), Azure / Google Cloud / AWS…
• Bonus points if you can display any experience with the following (although these are not 'must haves’):

• Data Engineering; e.g. Designing and building data architectures, or having a general interest in data analytics
• Operations and Infrastructure; Containerisation and deployment technologies including at least one of Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker

OVERVIEW:

This is a unique software and data business - developing revenue generating products and services in a commercial environment, but on a not-for-profit basis. Revenues are invested back into the mission of creating solutions that are for the public good - often relating to critical matters in areas such as the environment, food security, and more.

Due to major multi-year projects that are ongoing and incoming, they have a need to grow their Software Engineering team, likely with multiple hires. Software Engineers are needed at various experience levels, from circa 3+ years commercial experience and upwards. Individuals at senior / lead level are also encouraged to apply, who can bring skills in team leadership, architecture and operational judgement calls.

All Developers in the team are seen as full-stack and the role may involve exposure to various programming languages and tools, therefore candidates with versatility and the ability to pick up new things quickly are required. That being said, we appreciate that Developers will often have their own specialisms or be stronger in front or back end development, and this will also be welcomed into the team. Opportunities may emerge to become the lead or subject matter expert in a particular specialism such as front end development.

As per the skills & experiences listed above, those with additional experience in areas such as data engineering or ops / infrastructure would also be of interest, along with opportunities to specialise further in those areas.
