Finance Manager (Boutique International Law Firm)

Location: Central London

Part-Time: 3 Days a week

Salary: £50,000

We are partnering with a highly regarded boutique litigation firm, recognized by both Chambers and The Legal 500, to find a skilled Part-Time Finance Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic, growing firm with an international client base, primarily from South Asia, the Middle East, and the CIS.

As Finance Manager, you will take full responsibility for overseeing the financial management and accounting functions of the firm. Reporting to senior leadership and working closely with the Legal Cashier, you will ensure the firm remains compliant with all regulatory requirements, improve financial processes, and enhance the quality of financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily:

• Monitor and reconcile incoming payments and bank accounts.
• Address financial queries from partners and lawyers.

Weekly:

• Process supplier payments and manage expense requests.

Monthly:

• Bank account reconciliations.
• Prepare client invoicing and process credit card transactions.
• Produce management accounts and assist in preparing materials for board meetings.
• Circulate fee earner billings and oversee payroll and director payments (note: payroll is outsourced).

Quarterly:

• Conduct VAT reconciliations and manage VAT refunds.

Annually:

• Prepare year-end accounts and respond to related queries.
• Assist with SRA account audits and provide necessary documentation.
• Handle payments of dividends, bonuses, and corporation tax.

The Ideal Candidate:

• At least 5 years’ experience managing the finance department of an international law firm of similar size or larger.
• Strong understanding of SRA Rules and law firm compliance requirements.
• Proven experience managing solicitor client accounts.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Highly IT literate with the ability to adapt to new systems and software.
• Commercially astute, able to manage financial complexities related to international clients, particularly those from emerging markets or involved in sanctions matters.
