Role

The In Life Change (ILC) Project Manager will be responsible for delivery of projects / changes within the In Life Change portfolio. You will manage end-to-end delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards.

The project manager is accountable for planning, matrix management of delivery teams, budget management, risk and issue management, stakeholder management, quality management and change management.

You will work with internal subject matter experts (including business analysts, solution architects, service architects, procurement and security experts), business owners, third party suppliers and external stakeholders including representatives from Government & regulatory bodies.

Identifying and engaging stakeholders internally and externally is critical to success and the ideal candidate must have excellent skills at building and improving relationships. The ideal candidate for this role will have previous project management experience with line manager responsibilities and a proven track record of:

  • Integrating past learning into future practice
  • Effectively collaborating across business organizational boundaries to achieve significant outcomes
  • Being able to instil a 'customer first' approach in the work you deliver
  • Ensuring your own plans (and those of your team) are linked to organizational strategy
  • Establish a high level of trust within your team and beyond
  • Understanding of how capability is shifting within Smart DCC and the industry more widely
  • Effectively manages conflicts and dependencies ensuring the deliverables are met to the standards
  • Ability to assess and prioritize issues with problem solving attitude
  • Identify, engage, and manage relationships with key stakeholders affected by or interested in operational change delivery, addressing their needs and concerns.

What will you be doing?

  • Scrutinize and critically evaluate the demand for new technology initiatives.
  • Adopt appropriate project or product management methods and tools.
  • Manage the change control process and assess and manage risks.
  • Ensure that credible plans are maintained and regularly updated.
  • Provide effective leadership to delivery resources, either internal to DCC or 3rd parties.
  • Manage third party deliverables and Statement of Works and agreed outcomes in a collaborative way
  • Ensure adherence to internal and external governance, ensuring stakeholders are approving progress and changes throughout the life cycle of change
  • Monitor cost, time, quality and resources used and act when performance deviates from agreed tolerances.
  • Ensure product quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure.
  • Drive your deliveries to ensure that deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are formally accepted by appropriate stakeholders.
  • Strategically plan, manage, and execute internal communications related to operational changes delivery, planned initiatives, and updates.
  • Assess and objectively describe the value delivered by each change initiative for all affected stakeholder groups.
  • Ensure issues or defects in technology/business solutions found in testing are addressed to restore normal functionality and performance.
  • Plan, deploy, and manage software patches and updates to address vulnerabilities, bugs, and security issues in technology solutions.
  • Input to the ongoing maintenance of technology solutions to prevent issues and ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Provide support and resolve issues related to delivered solutions during the warranty period after implementation.

What are we looking for?

  • Complex or technical infrastructure delivery
  • Multi-methodology delivery (agile and waterfall)
  • Management of changes to mission critical products or services
  • Management of complex third-party commercial relationships
  • Familiar with third party contracting for delivery
  • Experience working in controlled or regulated environments
  • Experience in line management and/or leading teams
  • Skilled stakeholder managers who can build and maintain key relationships
  • Prior use of Azure Dev Ops (or similar e.g. Jira)
  • Experience of the UK energy market.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Scrum Master or similar agile delivery qualification
  • Prince 2 Project Management Accreditation (or similar project qualification (e.g. APM PMQ))
  • ITIL v3 or V4 qualification
  • Prince 2 / APM Project Manager (PMQ) or higher (or similar practitioner level qualification)
