Software Applications Engineer/ Permanent / Norwich - competitive salary depending on experience

Position 1 Recruitment are looking for Software Applications Engineer to join our client design, and engineering manufacturing site based in Norwich. Due to continuous growth, they are looking for an experienced Software Applications Engineer to join their successful and friendly team.

Software Applications Engineer will assist with the development, installation and commissioning of machinery as well as being able to work under pressure and meet customer driven deadlines as required.

Key Responsibilities:

* Create and modify PLC synchronised motion applications written in structured text or ladder for machines in Beckhoff, Schneider, Allen-Bradley and Siemens as detailed by the technical department and associated functional specification (FS)

* Manage Git repositories

* Install and configure Linux IPCs in machines

* Write software programs for safety PLCs as detailed by the FS and design risk assessment in compliance with relevant standards

* Write HMI software as detailed by the FS adhering to the format as detailed by the technical department

* Liaise with the electrical department in allocating and agreeing I/O identity and other associated elements of machine control

* Electrical troubleshooting

* Create Sistema files as required

* Maintain and update software records and program backup data

* To visit customers premises as and when required to update/fault find /commission/install and repair machinery

* To be prepared to work flexible hours as well as be away on customers premises as and when required

* To be prepared for staying away and working on customers machinery as required

* Provide time estimates of software programming for project estimating purposes

This is a permanent position, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. However, due to the nature of the role, some flexibility may be required. As a Software Applications Engineer, you will occasionally need to work at customer premises, which will be about 10-20% of the time. This will only occur after you have completed successful training and feel confident in your abilities.
