Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Technician to join a well-established Food Technology department at a prestigious all girls secondary school in Greenwich. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about food, nutrition, and education to support teaching staff and students in a dynamic learning environment.

This role is essential in ensuring that kitchen equipment operates efficiently, thereby supporting our commitment to high-quality food service. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing various kitchen equipment in compliance with health and safety standards as well as ordering.

Key Responsibilities:

* Preparing and organising ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical food lessons
* Assisting teachers during food technology lessons, ensuring students have the necessary tools and support
* Maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of the food preparation areas in line with health and safety regulations
* Supporting students during practical cooking sessions and ensuring smooth lesson operations
* Managing stock levels of ingredients and equipment, placing orders as necessary
* Demonstrating excellent organisational skills to ensure lessons run efficiently
* Helping to plan and deliver extracurricular activities, food-related projects, and events

The ideal candidate will have:

* A passion for food and nutrition, with practical cooking skills
* Experience working in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting
* Strong organisational and time-management skills
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable)
* The ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and other staff members
* A proactive, positive attitude and the ability to adapt in a busy environment
* A commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for students
