Are you a detail-oriented building surveyor with experience in managing legal disrepair cases? Do you have the technical expertise to ensure properties meet high standards and compliance? Local Authority is seeking a skilled Building Surveyor (Legal Disrepair) to join our team, working to resolve complex cases and improve housing conditions for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of council-owned properties to assess conditions and identify potential legal disrepair issues.
  • Prepare detailed reports and specifications for remedial works, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and building standards.
  • Act as a technical expert in legal disrepair cases, providing evidence and advice to support council responses and defend claims.
  • Collaborate with legal teams, contractors, and housing officers to resolve disrepair cases efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage repair projects from inception to completion, ensuring works are completed to a high standard, on time, and within budget.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, reports, and actions taken to ensure compliance with legal and council requirements.
?? About You:
  • Qualified Professional: Degree in building surveying or a related field and membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS or CIOB).
  • Expert Knowledge: Strong understanding of building construction, legal disrepair legislation, and housing standards.
  • Problem-Solver: Ability to identify issues, provide effective solutions, and deliver results in challenging situations.
  • Effective Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging with legal teams, contractors, and residents.
  • Experienced Project Manager: Proven ability to manage repair works and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Experience in legal disrepair cases within a local authority or social housing context is highly desirable.
