Principal Security Engineer

Who are we looking for?

Due to continued growth across Bridewell we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Security Engineer to join our Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading client onboarding projects, managing Azure Sentinel proof of concepts, and developing custom data connectors. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) and DevOps Pipelines with Bicep/Terraform and proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python/Go, particularly for Azure Function Apps.

What you'll be doing

  • Client Onboarding Projects: Lead and execute comprehensive client onboarding processes, ensuring a seamless transition and integration into SOC.
  • Azure Sentinel Proof of Concepts (PoCs): Design, implement, and manage PoCs for Azure Sentinel, demonstrating its capabilities and value to clients.
  • Custom Data Connectors: Develop, test, and deploy custom data connectors to integrate various data sources into security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilise Bicep and Terraform for automating the deployment and management of cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability and consistency.
  • Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python/Go and Function Apps to streamline security operations and processes.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Client Engagement: Work closely with clients to understand their security needs, provide expert advice, and ensure their satisfaction with our services.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Work closely with the sales team to accurately scope projects and their deliverables to ensure enough resources and time are allocated.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for projects, processes, and configurations.


What we're looking for
You'll have experience of:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a security engineering or similar technical role, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead position.
  • Proven experience in running client onboarding projects and managing Azure Sentinel deployments.
  • Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Bicep and Terraform.
  • Proven experience with DevOps Pipelines and methodologies.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting/programming languages, particularly Python/Go, and experience with Function Apps and REST API integrations.


Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of cloud security principles and practices, particularly in Azure, AWS, GCP.
  • Expertise in security information and event management (SIEM) systems, preferably Azure Sentinel.
  • Knowledge of networking, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security technologies, including on-premise infrastructure, and how these integrate into SOC monitoring.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards and frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS, CIS and GDPR.
