Our client is a is a well-established electrical and mechanical engineering subcontractor, with a strong foundation built on years of industry expertise. They hold an extensive portfolio and order book managing major projects across the UK. They specialise in designing and installing building services nationwide, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality and safe solutions across education, residential, aviation, leisure, and commercial developments.

The Project

As a highly experienced Electrical Site Manager, you will play a key role on a new build industrial development based in Birmingham, West Midlands. You will oversee all electrical operations, including the management of the installation of systems such as lighting, power distribution, and wiring. You will ensure that all work complies with applicable codes and safety regulations, maintaining high standards throughout the project.

Requirements

For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;

SMSTS
Valid CSCS Card
First Aid - desirableIt is also essential that you hold the experience below;

Proven industry expertise with a track record of successfully managing electrical packages new build industrial projects
Extensive background within the industry with at least 3 years of experience working in an Electrical Site Manager position or similar for a leading contractor or subcontractorAdditional skills;

Superb negotiation abilities
Strong electrical knowledge
Competent IT / software skills
Extensive health and safety knowledge
Effective communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to organise and manage project schedules
A solid understanding of relevant regulations and standards
Proven ability to lead, support, and direct a team effectively
In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and building processes

Duration: 6 months
Reporting to: Operations ManagerDuties

Toolbox talks
Supervise subcontractors
Perform routine safety audits and on-site inspections
Resolve on-site technical issues and implement practical solutions
Approve invoices for electrical work and manage contractor payments
Ensure work progresses in alignment with the project plan and timeline
Guarantee that all site operations comply with health and safety regulations
Monitor project expenses and efficiently manage resources to stay within budget
Manage the procurement of materials and equipment to guarantee timely delivery
Resolve any issues with materials, labor, or equipment that could delay the project
Assess the quality of work to ensure it meets project specifications and standards effectively
Coordinate with design teams to handle any discrepancies between design and site conditions
Implement quality control measures to ensure that electrical installations adhere to design standards
Maintain consistent communication with clients, provide them with updates on the status of the project
Collaborate with other trades (mechanical, civil, etc.) to coordinate electrical work and prevent conflicts
Inform and update stakeholders about any changes, delays, or issues related to electrical installations
Prepare cost estimates and anticipate any potential additional expenses that may arise during the project
Participate in project meetings to update on the status of electrical work, timelines, and any potential risks
Inspect electrical work at various project stages to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
Maintain detailed records of all electrical activities, including completed work, inspections carried out, and any challenges encountered
Oversee the testing and commissioning processes for electrical systems to ensure they function correctly and meet performance standards
Organise and supervise inspections conducted by regulatory authorities, ensuring necessary corrections or adjustments are promptly addressed
Make certain that workers receive training and adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
