We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established nursery seeking a Nursery Manager to join their dedicated team. About the Role:
As the Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in the daily management and operation of the nursery. You will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team of staff to provide exceptional care and education. In this role, you will also oversee curriculum planning, ensuring children’s developmental needs are met and fostering a positive environment for both children and staff.
You will be responsible for maintaining excellent communication with parents, ensuring their active involvement in their child’s progress and supporting the team to deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities. Additionally, you’ll oversee day-to-day administrative duties, record-keeping, and compliance with relevant regulations, all while maintaining a safe and clean nursery environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Nursery Management: Lead the day-to-day operation of the nursery, ensuring a high standard of care and education. Ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean, and welcoming for both children and staff.
- Staff Leadership & Support: Supervise and support a team of nursery staff, offering guidance and mentoring. Encourage a collaborative environment and provide feedback to aid professional development.
- Curriculum & Activity Planning: Develop and implement an age-appropriate and stimulating curriculum that supports the children’s learning, curiosity, and emotional development.
- Safeguarding & Welfare: Maintain a focus on safeguarding the children in your care, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, health and safety guidelines, and best practices.
- Parent Communication & Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and fostering an open, supportive relationship.
- Record-Keeping & Administrative Tasks: Oversee the completion of administrative tasks, including children’s assessments, observations, and progress reports.
- Financial & Operational Oversight: Manage budgets, occupancy levels, and financial reporting. Work to meet nursery targets while maintaining the quality of care.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Level 3 Qualification in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) is essential.
- Proven Nursery Experience: Demonstrable experience working within a nursery setting with a strong understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and manage a team, offering guidance and support where needed.
- Strong Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with parents, children, and staff.
- Knowledge of Regulations: A good understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and statutory requirements in early years settings.
- Financial Acumen: Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate your team to ensure that the nursery room is run efficiently and safely, while delivering exceptional care and educational activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement engaging, fun, and educational activities to support the children’s development.
- Maintain regular communication with parents, providing updates and addressing any concerns regarding their child’s progress.
- Ensure all health and safety standards are adhered to, including maintaining a clean, safe, and child-friendly environment.
- Assist in the professional development of staff by offering support, feedback, and encouraging continuous learning.
