Contract: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract

About the Role: Join our dynamic Reach Out team and make a profound impact on the lives of individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. As a Domestic Abuse Intervention Specialist, you will be at the forefront of providing survivor-led, child-centered, and perpetrator-aware support.

Key Responsibilities:

Survivor-Led Support:

Conduct initial screenings, safety planning, and provide ongoing emotional and practical support.
Focus on the needs and views of victims/survivors to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
Advocate for survivors in various settings, including MARAC and court.Child-Centered Approach:

Connect children and young people affected by domestic abuse to emotional and therapeutic support services.
Collaborate with child protection teams to ensure comprehensive care.Perpetrator-Aware Interventions:

Engage with perpetrators through motivational interviewing to address abusive behaviours.
Promote the in-house Spotlight Programme for behaviour modification.Case Management:

Perform risk assessments and maintain detailed case records.
Conduct proactive case work, including community and home visits.
Ensure all safeguarding issues are promptly and effectively addressed.Service Development:

Gather and share feedback from service users to enhance service delivery.
Participate in training and professional development to continually improve your skills.
Provide training and guidance on domestic abuse and gender-based violence to colleagues and other professionals.Multi-Agency Collaboration:

Communicate and share information with other professionals to ensure coordinated care.
Promote the service through networking and events to maintain a full caseload.Candidate Profile:

Education: Relevant qualification at NVQ L2 or above, or willingness to undertake such within the first year of appointment. IDVA training certificate is beneficial.
Experience: Significant experience working with victims/survivors of domestic abuse or individuals with complex needs. Experience in multi-agency settings and advocating for survivors is essential.
Skills: Strong communication, case management, and advocacy skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and case notes.
Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on survivors and children. Knowledge of equality, diversity issues, GDPR 2018, and DPA 1998.Why Choose Ackerman Pierce?
