We are currently working with a school based in Clapham and they are looking for an experenced LSA on a full time basis, to start in April 2025.

About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in Reception class. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to support the child's learning, engagement, and emotional well-being, helping them to develop their independence and access the curriculum effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

*

Provide individualised support to the child, adapting activities and teaching strategies to meet their learning needs.

*

Implement and follow structured routines to support attention, focus, and engagement.

*

Use a range of visual, sensory, and interactive learning methods to enhance the child's understanding and participation.

*

Support the child in developing early literacy and numeracy skills, fine and gross motor skills, and social interactions.

*

Encourage and promote positive behaviour, using appropriate strategies to manage attention difficulties.

*

Assist with transitions between activities and provide reassurance during changes in routine.

*

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement personalised learning plans.

*

Provide pastoral and emotional support, fostering confidence and self-esteem.

*

Support the child with daily tasks, including classroom activities, play, and personal development.

*

Maintain clear and accurate records of progress, behaviour, and any interventions.

Essential Requirements:

*

Experience working with children in Early Years (Reception) or Key Stage 1.

*

Understanding of attention difficulties and cognitive delays in young learners.

*

Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

*

Ability to use engaging and interactive strategies to support learning and concentration.

*

Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists.

*

Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting children with additional needs.

*

Ability to adapt tasks and expectations to suit the child's level of understanding.

*

Experience with visual timetables, sensory tools, or alternative learning approaches (desirable).

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

*

Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).

*

Experience working with children with SEND, particularly attention-related challenges or cognitive delays.

*

Training in positive behaviour management strategies (beneficial but not essential).
