We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure and Security Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting Internal IT, Cloud Services and the wider business. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our company's technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems administration, network architecture, and cybersecurity practices to safeguard our digital assets.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain various infrastructure and security toolsets such as firewalls, load balancers, switches, NDR, EDR/AV, web and email gateways, etc., ensuring their operational functionality and optimal configurations.
  • Define and oversee changes to the existing IT infrastructure, minimising disruptions to business operations.
  • Provide support for MHR's data centre infrastructure, ensuring the continuous availability of power, cooling, monitoring, and related aspects.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure and security issues across network and data centre environments, including alert triage, incident management, and necessary remediation.
  • Identify vulnerabilities within MHR's network infrastructure and data centre environments, implementing measures to enhance security and protect critical IT assets.
  • Investigate and respond to intrusions, as well as unusual, unauthorised, or illicit activities.
  • Design and deploy infrastructure solutions according to security best practices, enhancing weaknesses, strengthening posture, and prioritising performance and availability.
  • Lead and manage large, complex projects aimed at upgrading or implementing IT infrastructure technologies.
  • Ensure comprehensive security enforcement for both perimeter and internal networks, addressing all seven layers of the OSI model.
  • Keep updated with the latest developments in infrastructure and security technologies, providing recommendations for new products, solutions, and services to enhance productivity, efficiency, and security.
  • Create reports for technical and non-technical staff, as well as stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Head of IT Infrastructure: IT and Security to shape the infrastructure and security technology roadmap.
  • Offer support to colleagues during their absence by promptly responding to operational or security incidents.
  • Collaborate with external service providers, from issue detection to resolution, ensuring effective partnership.
  • Adhere to security best practices and comply with ISO27001 and SOC2 compliance frameworks.
