Job Description

As a Logistics Assistant you will…

Meal Delivery:


• Safely transport prepared meals to designated locations within the facility, ensuring all deliveries are timely and accurate.


• Ensure proper handling and temperature control of food during transit to maintain food safety standards.


• Verify meal orders against delivery lists and address any discrepancies with the kitchen or catering manager.

Food Storage Management:


• Oversee and manage the storage of food items, ensuring proper organisation, labelling, and rotation (FIFO - First In, First Out) to minimise waste.


• Regularly check the temperature of fridges and freezers to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.


• Ensure all stock is stored in accordance with health and safety guidelines, including allergen management and hygiene standards.


• Monitor stock levels of dry, chilled, and frozen goods, reporting low stock and placing orders when necessary.

Inventory Control:


• Assist in the inventory process by regularly checking and documenting stock levels in both the food store and fridges.


• Assist in receiving and inspecting food deliveries, ensuring quality and proper storage upon arrival.


• Report any discrepancies or damaged goods to the appropriate manager for follow-up.

Health and Safety Compliance:


• Ensure all health and safety policies and procedures are strictly followed, including proper cleaning and sanitising of food storage areas.


• Maintain high standards of hygiene within the food storage areas and during transportation of meals.


• Assist in the implementation of food safety programs, including temperature monitoring and compliance with HACCP guidelines.


General Support:


• Assist the catering team in other logistical and operational tasks as required, such as setting up food stations, helping with kitchen organisation, or supporting special events.


• Work collaboratively with kitchen and service teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Logistics Assistant with a background in exceptional food catering services to join our business and work at one of our highly prestigious education settings.

Nestled in the heart of Cheltenham, this prestigious independent school - Cheletnahm College caters for 300 day pupils as well as 750 boarders and staff and includes not only a breakfast, lunch and supper service but also an extensive hospitality service. This operates days a week.  

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Logistics Assistant to make a name for themselves within the food service industry and be a part of setting the new standard for education catering.



Qualifications

Previous experience in a logistics or catering environment is preferred but not required.


• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.


• Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, and proper food storage practices (training will be provided).


• Ability to lift and move heavy items such as food containers and deliveries.


• A team player with good communication skills.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.


• Basic knowledge of health and safety practices, particularly in food handling and transportation. (training will be provided).
