Job Description: Head of Additional Learning Support

Position Overview:

I am working alongside a college seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the role of Head of Additional Learning Support. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team dedicated to providing exceptional support for students and apprentices with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

Oversee and manage the Learning Support Team, fostering a positive and motivational team environment.
Ensure the provision of high-quality, impactful Learning Support across the institution.
Lead the management of High Needs Student (HNS) contracts to ensure timely and efficient funding claims.Operational Excellence:

Oversee daily operations to contribute to the institution's strategic aims and objectives.
Provide direction and positive feedback to staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and qualifications.
Monitor team performance and take timely action to address any performance concerns.Compliance and Development:

Ensure compliance with institution policies and procedures.
Stay updated on legislation and professional practices related to SEND.
Implement and maintain policies and procedures in line with current legislation and directives.Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with external agencies to support the positive progression of students and apprentices with SEND.
Collaborate with internal leaders and staff to provide a consistent support framework.
Actively participate in the institution's leadership team, ensuring awareness and understanding of SEND responsibilities.Financial and Administrative Management:

Manage the transition and funding processes for students and apprentices with relevant authorities.
Maintain auditable systems and records for funding verification.
Ensure efficient and affordable delivery of Learning Support services.

Qualifications and Skills:

Demonstrated experience in leading and managing educational support teams.
Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong organizational and time management skills.

Additional Information:

Location: Based primarily at one campus, with potential duties at other locations.
Salary: Competitive, circa £50,000 to £55,000.
Commitment to continuous professional development and training.
Expected to support student recruitment activities and participate in events.
