Job Specification

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager

Location: Hinkley Point C - Bridgwater, Somerset

Pay: £83,000 - £90,000 per year DOE, plus OT paid at flat rate

Standard Hours: 37.5 per week

Start Date: 26th May

Contract Type: PAYE Contract

Rotation: Option of either 5/2 or 10/4

Accommodation Allowance: £1,140 per month

Mileage: Paid on first and last day of trip

Holidays: 25 days paid holiday plus Bank Holidays

Pension: 8% (matched)

Work Arrangement: On Site

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join our team at Hinkley Point C. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing costs, overseeing legal matters, and ensuring the financial success of a £400 million project. The ideal candidate will not only bring strong technical skills but also a proactive attitude and ability to challenge the status quo.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management:

In charge of cost reports and forecasting costs for the project.
Track project costs to ensure no overspending.
Work closely with the Senior Project Manager, and other stakeholders including Bylor.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Ensure effective communication and management of financial concerns.
Confidently challenge and scrutinize work to ensure client satisfaction.
Legal Case Management:

Handle legal cases related to the project.
Ensure all legal activities are documented and managed within project timelines and budgets.
Technical Expertise:

NEC3 contract proficiency is essential.
Advantageous to have experience with Cemar.
Ability to read and interpret P6 plans effectively.
Team Oversight:

Oversee team of Cost Engineer, NEC Change Manager, and Cost Estimator.
Ensure the team is aligned with project goals and financial constraints.
Cultural Fit:

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Finance, or a related field.
Extensive experience in cost control, commercial management, and legal case management within large-scale construction projects.
Proficient in NEC3 contracts, Cemar, and P6 planning.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
