The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced "Commercial Manager/Commercial Lead" to join their team and take ownership of the commercial aspects of their newest flagship project in Exeter. Your Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing the commercial strategy for this major project. You'll lead procurement activities, manage subcontractor relationships, and oversee contract administration from inception through to completion. The position involves preparing and analyzing cost plans, forecasting cash flow, negotiating terms with suppliers, and identifying potential commercial risks. You'll work closely with the project director to maximize value and profitability while maintaining the highest quality standards. The role also includes financial reporting, change management, and ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Your Background

The ideal candidate will have significant commercial experience within the construction industry, with a proven track record of managing the commercial aspects of large-scale projects. You should have a degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field, along with relevant professional qualifications. Your knowledge of construction contracts, including NEC and JCT, should be comprehensive. Experience with value engineering, cost control methodologies, and procurement strategies is essential. Your negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills should be exceptional.
