Job Role – Process and Engineering ManagerLocation – GloucesterSalary – Competive Type – Permanent Our client is a leading manufacturing business located in Gloucester. They are in an exciting time of growth after many years of success they are seeking a Process & Engineering Engineer to oversee and guide the engineering team, ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects, optimising manufacturing processes, and maintaining high-quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership: - Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of engineers.
- Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor progress to ensure timely project completion.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to identify and resolve engineering issues
- Oversee work with outside contractors scheduling planning maintenance on production equipment
- Provide ad-hoc call out support to department, covering both technical and emergency situations
Project Management - Lead engineering projects from concept through to completion.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure project success.
Process Improvement - Analyse current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Create and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for cost, time and performance
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Assurance - Ensure that all engineering activities comply with quality standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to maintain high product standards.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for any quality issues.
Equipment and Technology - Oversee the design, selection, and installation of manufacturing equipment and tools.
- Ensure regular maintenance and calibration of equipment to optimise performance.
- Stay updated with advancements in manufacturing technology and integrate new solutions as appropriate.
- Ensure the team manage specific machinery (eg biomass) for upkeep and repairs
Product Development Support - Provide technical support during prototype testing and product launches.
Documentation and Reporting - Maintain accurate documentation of engineering processes, procedures, and project status.
- Prepare and present reports on engineering activities, progress, and outcomes to senior management.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field
Experience - Extensive experience in a similar role
- Extensive experience leading a team of engineers
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and equipment
- Experience of LEAN manufacturing or other continuous improvement methods
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality standards in manufacturing
