Reed Accountancy have recently began working with a fantastic client who is one of the UK's leading distribution and wholesale business who are now looking to add a Financial Controller to their team.
Working for a family run SME business the right candidate will be able to demonstrate the below experience and skills and will be happy working within a relatively small finance function.
This role is on a hybrid basis and will be 3 days in the office and 2 days from home with flexibility around days.

The Role:
Financial Management & Reporting:
Production of monthly management accounts and MI Pack
Overseeing the preparation of financial statements including leading the annual audit and liaising with external auditors
Preparation and filing of quarterly UK VAT returns
Overseeing monthly foreign VAT returns
Filing all statutory declarations
Preparation of annual P&L and Balance Sheet forecasts, updating monthly. Variance analysis
Preparation of timely, accurate financial information to support decision making
Quarterly royalty reporting for license agreements
Responsible for all company secretarial matters
Preparation of monthly payroll
Pension scheme management
Managing business insurance policies
Assisting the chairman with personal investment projects
Experience of overseeing business turnover of £30-£40 millionCash Flow & Treasury Management:
Daily treasury management of multiple different currency accounts
Short-term cashflow forecasting to ensure the business can meet its obligations
Liaising with finance providers and delivering all financial information they require
Ensuring covenant compliance is maintained
Overseeing short-term borrowing facilities such as Invoice Finance and Import Loans. Monitoring availability
Optimising working capitalTeam Leadership:
Head of the finance department
Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all other finance functions.
Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of Diligence and continuous improvement
Two direct reports
Promote cross-functional collaboration and act as a financial liaison to other departmentsSystems & Process Optimisation:
Implement technology-driven solutions to streamline financial reporting and operationsEssential Skills and Experience
CIMA or equivalent qualified
Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in financial management, preferably within an SME or similar fast-paced environment
Highly organised
Experience of using Microsoft Navision and Sage is advantageous
Strong Excel skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines
In-depth understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standardsThe Person
