We are searching for a caring, compassionate and dedicated Children's Support Worker to support children who have been through, witnessed and survived domestic and sexual abuse - based in the Swansea area.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY / FIXED TERM ROLE UNTIL MARCH 31st 2025 - EXTENSION BEYOND THIS DATE WILL DEPEND ON FUNDING

What are the details?

  • Work for an incredible charity focused on supporting people who have experienced domestic violence
  • Full time hours - 35 per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • 9am to 4.30pm - with a 30 min break each day
  • Working across schools in the Swansea area
  • Salary starts at £23,208
  • Equivalent to £12.75 per hour
  • Hourly rate is negotiable for the right person
  • Contract until 31st March 2025
  • Extention past this date will depend on funding

What will you do?

  • Work within the school environment, supporting children who have experienced domestic violence
  • Carry a caseload of 10 children at a time
  • 1-2-1 support with children referred in to the service
  • Deliver a 6 week programme, covering wellbeing, healthy relationships, safety and more
  • Refer to other agencies and specialist services
  • Complete a support / work plan for each individual
  • Contact with school staff and parents
  • Extend support where needed
  • Build an excellent relationships with the schools
  • Complete risk assessments

What do we need?

  • The charity will consider anyone who has worked with children
  • You could come from education, support work, youth work, residential children's care etc.
  • We need someone who has worked with young people below the age of 16
  • Ideally supported children from 5 to 13 years old
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding, multi-agency working and professional boundaries
  • Compassion, empathy and patience is essential
  • The ability to connect with, and win the trust of vulnerable children
  • An understanding of the effects of domestic violence would be ideal
  • A DBS ON THE UPDATE SERVICE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE
  • A DRIVER IS IDEAL BUT WILL CONSIDER NON-DRIVERS
