We are looking for a Technical Manager to join the team in Colne Valley, just north of Colchester, Essex.

About the role:

As Technical Manager, you will be a pivotal part of our dynamic team, reporting directly to the Operations Director. You'll be the link between management and the operations team, building strong relationships. Our site is already BRC accredited to an AA standard and within this Technical Manager role you will be expected to maintain the level and ensure that the food safety culture is developed further on site.

Other duties will include:

Establish a centralised technical department to manage rapid growth and oversee quality, compliance, and food safety across the business.
Collaborate and develop a New Product Development program and ensure timely reporting for operational management.
Provide customer and sales support, as well as oversight of HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP practices.
Verify supplier approvals, product quality, and compliance with specifications and standards.
Implement and enforce systems and procedures for compliance, while delivering training on Food Safety, Quality, and Processes.
Lead the technical function through strategic planning and execution in Quality, Compliance, and Food Safety, setting KPIs with the Quality Manager.
Create a culture of food safety excellence, driving continuous improvement and ensuring clear measures for improvement are in place.

Shift Pattern:

This role is based on a 45-hour week, Monday to Friday, but flexibility is key to fit around business needs.

About you:

You will possess at least 2 years of technical management experience, backed by a formal food qualification, and demonstrate strong knowledge of industry standards such as HACCP, BRCGS, TACCP/VACCP, and customer factory standards. You will need hold HACCP Level 4 certification and possess excellent problem-solving skills, as well as a personable approach to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels.
