Leader Education are recruiting a Mental Health Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work at a small school based in North Tyneside. The ideal Mental Health LSA will have relevant experience in working with people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) in a similar and relevant field. The school caters for young people with SEMH aged 3 to 16 years old. The students at this provision may also have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4pm and is a long-term position.
The successful Mental Health LSA will have:
- A Child & Adult Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or the willingness to obtain one
- A strong classroom presence
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- An understanding of SEMH and the ability to support students with emotional and behavioural challenges
- Patience and empathy in dealing with students facing emotional and behavioural challenges
- Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of students and the school environment
- The ability to implement and support the development of positive behaviour
- Knowledge of relevant educational policies, procedures, and safeguarding practices
