Our client is a After School Club that provide a high-quality after school provision for children aged 4-11 that attend a local Primary School in North Edinburgh. They also provide holiday camps for Christmas, Easter and the Summer holidays.

They are currently looking for an enthusiastic, positive and creative Play Worker to join their team. They have a large number of children to care for every day, so the ideal candidate must have extensive experience in a childcare setting.

They have a fantastic reputation and have excellent relationships with the local Primary School and the Teaching teams theywork with, the families who we support with this provision, the team who we support fully in their roles, and most importantly… the children in our care!

Hours: 22.5 per week and working holiday clubs. We are happy to discuss working patterns.

They are proud to offer a competitive salary rate of: £14.00 per hr for Qualified staff

Main duties include:

Assist with planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school anddelivering them safely to parents or carers.

Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
Administering first aid when necessary.
Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
Helping with club administration, where necessary.
Encouraging parental involvement in the club.
Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, and schools.
Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.
Working within the framework of the club's policies and procedures.Qualifications and Skills

Experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds
Understanding the varied needs of children and their families
Understanding the issues involved in the delivery of quality play care
Understanding the issues of equal opportunities
Provide and facilitate safe and creative play
Good communication skills
Able to work as part of a team
Experience of working within a play-based setting
Experience of administration
Competent in using IT to support play and club administration
Ability to work on own initiative
Relevant qualification in Play-work SVQ Level 3 or Childhood Practice HNC or willingness to work towards this
Appropriate child protection training
Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Food Hygiene Certificate
Sound judgement and common sense

The successful candidate will also be subject to a PVG check.
