St Helens Council is committed to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for children and families in our community. We are seeking dedicated and experienced Social Workers to join our Child Protection Team. This is a critical role where you will work directly with children and families to assess needs, reduce risks, and ensure children are safe from harm.

As part of the Child Protection Team, you will manage complex cases, deliver high-quality interventions, and work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard children and promote their welfare.

• Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families, using the Signs of Safety framework or other relevant tools, to identify risks, strengths, and areas of support.
• Develop and implement child protection and care plans that ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at risk of harm.
• Manage a varied and complex caseload, including child in need, child protection, and court proceedings.
• Work closely with families to address concerns, promote positive changes, and build resilience through direct interventions.
• Participate in child protection conferences, core group meetings, and legal planning meetings, providing clear and evidence-based recommendations.
• Prepare high-quality court reports and provide evidence in family court as required.
• Collaborate effectively with partner agencies, such as health, education, and police, to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding children.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive records in accordance with St Helens Council’s policies and statutory requirements.
• Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns, ensuring swift and appropriate actions are taken to protect children.
• Contribute to team learning, development, and performance improvements through reflective practice and peer support.
